Wiyaala keeps her promise to Upper West fans

Last Friday, Wiyaala kept her promise to launch her new album in the Upper West when she delivered an outstanding live performance at Wa Football Stadium in Upper West.

Following her successful album launch at Alliance Francaise in November, Wiyaala continues to break new trends in the Ghana music industry by putting on another self-produced concert which had her distinctive branding stamped all over it from the ticketing to the huge stage backdrop featuring her image.

The programme, which included many new songs from Wiyaala’s recently released album, as well as hits like “Rock My Body” also featured more than twenty local artists such as Rafius, Samson B, Young Gally, Dollar Man, El Twist, Typanza, Kawuju, Padlock and Sumaya, who helped to keep the crowd royally entertained until the early hours of the morning.

Wiyaala said: “Besides performing for my hometown fans, I wanted to broadcast to Ghana and the world beyond that not only do we have hugely talented musicians of all genres in the Upper West who can match any of the talents in Accra, we also have audiences who are willing to pay something to see good music. I think it’s important that artists insist audiences pay an entrance fee to get into their shows. All these free concerts and free music mean an artist has no idea whether he or she is worth anything and this removes our negotiating power.”

The singer added that “Djimba World Productions also ensured all the artists received a payment for their performance.
