After successfully organizing one of the best events as a musician, Becca, the smooth strong voice women’s advocate singer, has kept very quiet after her charity show.
I stand to be corrected but I sincerely think that nothing has being done so far in getting the money for the deserved children in our country.
The singer promised to insure over a thousand (stand to be corrected) children in Ghana’s deprived areas, hence a show was held at the Banquet Hall, State House, some time back with other musicians supporting her.
The noise was all over as she became the first singer and musician locally to have taken such initiative in the country, hence, it received much attention from inside and outside the media.
It has been quite some time now since her team or herself said something about that money raised at the show, the amount that night was so much that she confidently said that “my dream is to take care of children, especially those deprived in society, so this money will insure children to the National Health Insurance scheme in rural areas”, she said this after her show when GTV interviewed her.
As a patriotic freelance journalist I urged my other colleagues to support me as we ask Becca and her management team this question “WHERE IS THE MONEY YOU RAISED FOR THE CHILDREN?”.
I speak for the child whose mother heard the news on TV and was very happy, I also speak for that father who has eleven children and cannot insure them all including himself and many others in society.
It will be my greatest joy if Becca and her team can prove me wrong by showing Ghanaians, especially those who contributed to her dream financially details of how the insurance is going so far.
As usual, we might say she is doing it without the media in some village, incase that school of thought comes up, I want that school of thought to think about this, “Why did she use the media to achieve her goal and after it, decide to go silent on us”.
Let’s say she handed over the money to the Ministry in charge, we still want her to prove her self as to how she disbursed the money raised.
I hate to say that I am beginning to suspect that she did that show to raise her image and brand her self well in the eyes of well wishers and fans, which worked beautifully because I even applauded her, but if she wants to disappoint fans and every one who loved her for that, then I think its a wrong move.
Becca and her record label, plus management team, please prove me wrong and lets all hope that she is right after all, either than that she will loose her image in the eyes of those who trusted her. Becca has currently released some singles featuring Samini and all that, but has said nothing about the INSURANCE money and I ask why?
