Ghanaian-American singer and songwriter Moliy Ama Montgomery popularly known as Moliy has opened up about her attitude towards body image and self-acceptance, especially when in relationships.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on October 23, 2025, Moliy revealed that in one of her past relationships, her weight became a constant topic of discussion.

According to her, she tends to eat freely and enjoy herself when she feels comfortable and happy around someone she loves.

“I’ve been in a relationship where my weight was a heavy subject in the relationship. When I’m happy and having a good time, let’s say I’m comfortable with the person, I eat and do what I want” she said.

The `shake it to the max’ hitmaker explained that putting on weight when she is comfortable is natural to her and not something she feels ashamed of.

“I’m just living my life. It’s not my fault that when I get in that mood, I get to put on a bit of weight. Technically, I do enjoy it. I like having weight in certain areas of my body” she stated.

She further mentioned that some men tend to project their insecurities onto their partners by insisting they must go to the gym, but she refuses to let such comments dictate how she lives her life.

“It’s like sometimes a guy can project his ideas and fears so he will start saying I need to go to the gym.

“I’m not saying you shouldn’t do that, I’m not saying you shouldn’t take care of yourself or try and be healthy. I don’t think I look bad so I’m still going to enjoy the foods that I like” she shared.

Moliy emphasized that her happiness and peace of mind come first, even if that means losing someone who is uncomfortable with how she looks.

“I’m still going to do what makes me happy whether you want to stay in my life or not. You’re looking for love and I’m looking for jollof. I’m not going to subject myself to misery and not eat what I want to eat because you’re uncomfortable with how I look” she added.
