Nana Yaa Brefo, a vocal figure in the media, has shared her displeasure with the current power cuts (dumsor) that have stirred up anger among many affected Ghanaians.

She questioned why the government and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have not shown adequate commitment towards resolving the power crisis that is negatively impacting businesses.

In a video posted on her Instagram page and seen by GhanaWeb, Yaa Brefo urged the authorities to provide a schedule for power outages to help people plan their daily activities and avoid frustrations.

"What nonsense is this? My lights just went off. They put it off for two hours and turned it on for a few hours. I had to stay outside at midnight because of the heat. They are giving us flimsy excuses. They [the government] should give us a timetable for us to know the number of hours it will go off for.

"What kind of rubbish is this? If there is a problem, tell us so that we can find a way to live our lives. Because of this, we can't even plan, and there is no adequate air these days, too," she said.

Recently, many people, including politicians, have raised concerns about the unstable power supply in certain areas.

Meanwhile, during the State of the Nation's Address (SONA) on February 27, 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo stated that his administration deserves to be applauded after having avoided 'Dumsor' (power outage) for seven years since he assumed office.

The government and the ECG have declined to introduce a load-shedding timetable, stating that the irregular power supply is a result of ongoing maintenance works.
