What happened on Ghana’s showbiz scene

The week started off with the release of the nominees for this year’s BET awards which moved on to dictate the angel of conversation in showbiz in Ghana.

Although Ghanaians were unhappy, what dominated the conversation in the country was the fact that Self acclaimed Dancehall King, Shatta Wale was not nominated for the awards. Like expected of his fans, the downplayed the credibility of the awards scheme and the kind of prestige attached to it.

Shatta Wale like he has always done made the award scheme look useless when he said he was not bothered about the snub and that he Is all about the money and not awards. Shatta had the support of Uncle Willi Roi who in a post on Facebook aid categoricaly that Shatta is all about making good money and back stage awards like the BET. He, however, received bashing from the public who thought he should have known better and not make such a comment.

The BET awards nominee list caused a number of industry players to come out and call for cease fire and unity to support the only nomine, Stonebwoy. Such individuals included KKD, Caroline, Flowking Stone.

Issues surrounding the BET awards did not die out when a video of Shatta Mitchy cleaning glasses in her container pub with a tissue she used to clean her mouth surfaced on social media. Although there have been several complaints, the SM empire is yet to speak to it.

With the BET and its relating issues going to rest came the revelations by Viky Zugah the she had been in relationship with three guys for a period of four years. What became the talking point was the fact that all these guys were abusive and abused her. However, one of the men in question came out openly to debunk claims by the actress who he described as “living a lie’ all her life.

Mr. Eazi also made some damning revelations about Ghana’s entertainment industry and why it keeps sinking although people have been up on their feet working to make the industry what it should be. He indicated that the internal divisions in the industry makes it sink gradually. He also disclosed that organisers of VGMA could not afford to pay him thirty thousand dollars hence reason why he did not perform at the event.

Like things had settled then Akwaboah, a highlife singer who is highly rated and respected disclosed he had a soft spot for actress Yvonne Okoro and that he would be willing to warm the bed of the actress who has said in time past that Ghanaian men do not have the balls to approach her.

And on the lighter side, Obaapa Christy has given a strong indication that she is targeting ten babies as a woman. To her, ten babies will help in the development of the country because they will have different careers and play different roles in the country to help so that is also her way of contributing to the development of the country

In all, this week has been a very interactive one with loads of events and happening and we hope that the coming week will bring the blessings of the lord upon our lives and showbiz in Ghana will grow more than Kwame Nkrumah did.
