A member of the NPP communications team and entertainment critic, Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu, popularly known as KOKA, has reacted to the extradition of Frederick Kumi, also known as Abu Trica, to the United States over his alleged involvement in fraud.
In an interview with the Ghanaian Times, KOKA sarcastically stated that he envies Abu Trica for travelling to the US without paying for a visa or plane ticket.
According to him, Abu Trica is facing the consequences of his support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2024 general elections. He added that he would not mind if Abu Trica were granted a green card in the US.
“Will you ever get the chance to travel to America without paying for a visa or plane ticket? I even envy Abu Trica; I wish I were him. Wasn’t he considered Ghanaian when he was supporting the NDC? In this world, you reap what you sow,” KOKA said.
$8 million US fraud allegation against Abu Trica lacks evidence - Lawyer
On March 24, 2026, the Gbese District Court dismissed a legal challenge seeking to halt Abu Trica’s extradition to the United States.
The court threw out a preliminary objection filed by his legal team, which had argued that the extradition request lacked legal basis under the longstanding treaty between Ghana and the US.
The ruling effectively clears the path for the extradition process to proceed.
Abu Trica is wanted by American authorities to face charges related to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering, as part of a broader international crackdown on transnational financial crimes.
