We were awarded with woods – Daughters Of Glorious Jesus

Hardly will you hear a gospel musician complain about award schemes in Ghana, but Cynthia Appiadu of Daughters of glorious Jesus, says music award organizers are making business out of musicians.

Cynthia Appiadu the lead singer who appear not too happy told Christian Agyei Frimpong on Onua 95.1 FM’s flagship program, Anigye mmre that “If I’m a musician, nominated for an award, my nomination has to give me something, Bodo Staiger won just one award, he was given money, he set up a studio and he is making a living out of His studio. So if you want to use my name and music to organize an award, make money, you don’t give me part of the money you make, then it’s not right. During our time we were awarded with woods and it's lying down in our rooms”.

Cynthia Appiadu, Edna Sarpong, and Monica Owusu Ansah form the group Daughters of Glorious Jesus. They have won numerous awards both locally and international consistently through a number of albums and hit songs like Asomdwoe hene, Aseda ben, Wo Ntaban, Yeyi waye, Fa wasem to Awurade anim, Momma yenben Awurade, Odomfo, Beberee, Ahinta Bea, Onakwafo Nyame etc.

Daughters of Glorious Jesus started with the Resurrection Power and Living Bread Ministries choir in 1987.

Later, the General Overseer of the Church, Bishop Akwasi Asare Bediako, saw their potential and encouraged them to form a group. They proceeded to minister through song at various church crusades and convention.
