Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale have said they commit their new peace accord to divinity as they begin a new path in their relationship.

“It is only human, we are not perfect, and as humans we will keep trying to get to the top and for the peace between us to last. Peace is key in everything.

“The length of this unity is not dependent on us, we leave it to divine. And we beg you the media not to pitch us against each other,” Stonebwoy responded to a question about the future of the peace moves between them.

On their future relationship with Charterhouse, the dancehall artistes said they are open to do business with anyone who is willing to work with them

“We are willing and open to work with whoever is ready to work with us. If they do lift the ban, we are willing to work as professionals and we will do things right”.

The two popular Ghanaian musicians were arrested two weeks ago over a brawl on stage during the music awards. The Police are investigating the immediate cause of the near-violent clash that ensued between their fans at the event.

Indefinite ban

Organiser of the award Charterhouse has banned Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy from the VGMA indefinitely. The two warring dancehall artistes have also been stripped of all awards they won.

They have also been granted bail in the sum of GHC50, 000 each for the chaos that marred the 20th VGMA.

The court also cautioned them to be of “good behavior during the pendency of the case” before it, a statement from the police said.

They have both been charged with offensive conduct while Stonebwoy has an additional charge for displaying weapon in a public place without permission. The two dancehall artistes pleaded not guilty to the charges. The case has been adjourned to June 20, 2019.

Background

Chaos erupted at the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards when Shatta Wale and his squad attacked his arch-rival Stonebwoy on stage when the latter was announced as the ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year’.

It was a free-for-all fight on the big stage as the two sides clashed forcing Stonebwoy to pull a pistol.

There was total pandemonium at the event as security struggled to restore order forcing the show to halt for over half an hour.

This is the fifth consecutive time Stonebwoy is beating Shatta Wale to the award.

Top celebrities were spotted outside the Accra International Conference Center, where the event was held as they ‘flee’ for safety.
