Jamaican reggae and dancehall artiste Andre Hugh Sutherland, professionally known as Popcaan, added a cultural stop to his stay in Ghana by visiting the renowned Shea Butter Museum in Accra for a traditional “Kuriya Kuriya” massage experience.
Arriving in Ghana earlier in February 2026 as part of what his team described as a creative and cultural visit, which reportedly included shooting a music video and exploring local heritage sites, Popcaan took time on February 13, 2026, to immerse himself in Ghanaian tradition at the museum.
During the visit, the international star enjoyed an authentic shea-butter-based massage using products made from raw shea butter.
Hamamat Montia to be commissioned as Tourism ministry's ambassador for Shea Butter
Video clips circulating on social media show Popcaan relaxing on a massage table while being treated with shea butter by ten ladies in their signature grass skirts and calabash bras.
Ghana’s shea butter industry has increasingly gained global attention, especially following a recent visit by US internet personality IShowSpeed during his tour of Ghana in January. His visit contributed to heightened interest in the country’s cultural and tourism offerings, particularly the shea butter sector.
In February this year, the curator of the Shea Butter Museum, Hamamat Montia, was commissioned by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts as the Cultural Ambassador for Shea Butter.
