There is a debate on social media as to whether it was necessary for President John Dramani Mahama to wish controversial radio and television presenter Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa, a.k.a Afia Schwarzenegger, a happy birthday.

Afia received many good wishes on her birthday, which fell on Valentine’s Day, but none of these was bigger than a good wish from the president of the land.

President Mahama took to Twitter to wish Afia, who recently defended him when opposition Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong bad-mouthed him and his family, a happy birthday.

The outspoken Afia has over the years had altercations with some Ghanaians, including founder of the International God’s Way Church Bishop Obinim and, recently, Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong.

Questions are being raised as to why the president did not do same to former Power Minister, Kwabena Donkor, and prominent people like PPP flagbearer Papa Kwesi Nduom and former president , J.A. Kufuor, who celebrated their birthday quite recently. Even John Dumelo did not get a tweet from the president on his birthday last month.
