Dancehall artiste Livingstone Etse Satekla popular known as Stonebwoy has intimated at the Shatta Movement and BhimNation press conference dubbed “the Peace Conference” that he and Shatta Wale have suffered the most as regards the scuffle which occurred at the 20th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

The musician suggested that the organisers of the event should have admitted they also faulted as far as the organization of the program is concerned instead of turning blind eye to their mistakes and sanctioning him and ‘rival’ Shatta Wale.

“I will admit that with the past brawl that happened, the parties involved are not only me and Shatta Wale but we have gone the most,” he said. “We’ve been banned, our awards have been taken that alone is like a low blow and is a thing that can have an effect on us.’’

He added that they had heard the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) president pass comment that the music industry can do without them which to him is not the best.

On whether he will be willing to participate in the award scheme should the indefinite ban be lifted, he said: “If they do lift the ban per their discretion as a board or organizers of VGMA we are ready to work and when we get there we will cross the river because we are professional and will do things as professionals.”

Background

Earlier in the night, Shatta Wale had won two awards – the Highlife song of the Year for “My Level” and Reggae/Dancehall song of the year for “Gringo.”

However, when it came to announcing the Reggae/Dancehall artiste of the Year, Stonebwoy was announced as the winner.

When he walked up to the stage, Stonebwoy indicated that this would be the fifth time he’s won this category back to back.

However, just when Stonebwoy was about to deliver his acceptance speech, “angry” Shatta Wale walked up to the stage causing a fight to break out.

Tear gas was said to have been fired to disperse the crowd on the stage and Stonebwoy was reportedly wielding a gun.

Now, the chaos has caused a pause of the show and celebrities who were attending the show have started leaving the AICC, where the show was being held.

Actress Jackie Appiah, was seen being escorted out of the premises after the incident happened.
