VGMA lacks credibility - Asem

Ghanaian Rapper Asem has stated that he doubts the credibility of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) and that awards are important only when they come from credible sources.

Since the release of this year’s VGMA nomination list, the rapper, known in real life as Nana Wiafe Asante Mensah, has raised several objections on social network twitter and on television about the song of the year category.

“Accolades are good when they come from a credible source. The VGMA’s, well I am not too sure about them anymore, “Asem revealed.

Most people in the entertainment industry get excited when their names pop up in events which are meant to award them but it looks like Asem feels indifferent about his nomination.

Maybe it is because his ‘Bye Bye’ hit song was not selected for the song of the year category. “I’m not really excited about my nominations this year.

As Mario Ballotelli says, he doesn’t celebrate when he scores a goal because that is his job. It is hard work that I put in and God has been good to me,” he stated.

Currently, Asem is working on his new album. He has released his ‘Wasted’ and ‘Love’ singles which are up for download. “I am trying to mash the Afro Beats grooves with the European Pop scene on the ‘Wasted’ track.

The new album is going to be a great album so we are preparing to do some huge promo for it followed by a tour.”

He urged his fans to remain true to who they are and be positive because there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
