Unprofessionals have taken over the Film Industry - George Williams

Veteran Versatile Ghanaian Actor George Williams has condemned the way and manner film directors and producers have been using young actors to portrait as elderly in recent movies.

The veteran actor who is disappointed that old actors have been sidelined, blast producers and directors for using make-up and powder to push young ones into elderly roles.

The 81-year-old actor who is sometimes referred as Mr. Addisson in an interview with Atinka fm last Saturday said he always feels sad because the movie industry has been taken over by people who have little knowledge about it.

According to him, a lot of people, especially producers and directors, have mingled themselves in the industry with virtually no background knowledge about the various basics of movie making.

He further explained that every good director or producer must not do his or her job without the knowledge of costuming, lighting, sounds and good pictures, But that is exactly what is happening in Ghana.

He told Atinka fm that, the industry is gradually lacking professionals, ‘’ the material in now are very bad which has over the years contributed to the fallen standard of Ghanaian movies. He added

George Williams’s popularly known as Mr. Addison has been acting for the past 50 years.

He started in 1952 with stage acting and played his first lead role in the movie, 'Genesis Chapter X' (1975). Later, he appeared in other movies including 'Dogo Yaro', 'Bloody Kids', and 'Mama' as well other TV series including the 'Ultimate Paradise'.
