US Mayor Visits Scratch Studios

HISTORY WAS made recently when the Mayor of the Village of Dolton, Illinois, in the USA, Ronnie C. Lewis, visited Scratch Studios and Entertainment near the plush Guest Hotel in East Legon, Accra.

The Mayor, comparing the studio to any in the U.S, was impressed with its high professional standards and commended the management and staff of Scratch Studios for their foresight.

He was totally mesmerized by the new music genre being developed by Scratch Studios, Synchos Music( the abbreviation of Synchronized Soul Music), which is a fusion of different forms of music from around the globe, very similar to the Criss Cross Rhythms developed by the phenomenal Osibisa band.

Mr. Lewis thus called on Ghanaians, particular the corporate bodies, to invest in and actively support Scratch Studios in the development of this very unique and internationally appealing sound, which in his opinion can transform the creative sector and lead to economic and social benefits not only for Ghana's music industry, but the whole of Africa.

Synchos Music is a fusion of rythms from Africa, America, Europe and other parts of the globe, basically fusing the souls and emotions of these continents, so that music lovers from all over the world can identify with it.

Osibisa, Michael Jackson, Angelique Kidjo, Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Youssou Ndour, Meiway, Fela Kuti, James Brown, Real Thing and younger acts including R. Kelly and Rihanna have at one time or the other broken through with such a fusion, but this is the first time it is being clearly defined, branded and established as a key genre of music; and Scratch Studios is in the forefront of this monumental project.

The Mayor emphasized his personal commitment to playing a pivotal role in ensuring that music and other creative products from Ghana, particularly products from Scratch Studios, are given maximum exposure through television and other media networks in Dolton.

Chairman of Scratch Studios, Mr. Kofi Amoakohene, on behalf of the board of directors including celebrated personalities like Osibisa's Teddy Osei, musician/producer and copyright advocate, Carlos Sakyi and veteran actor George Williams, thanked the Mayor for his immense interest in Scratch Studios’ vision to put Ghanaian and African talent on the world map, and promised to collaborate with the Village of Dolton in the area of entertainment and other businesses as well.

The studio is currently developing top quality and catchy jingles for several key corporate bodies to enhance not only the market value of these corporate bodies, but their profitability too.

Scratch Studios is a one-stop entertainment shop, providing sound recording and audiovisual services, a 400-seater auditorium for events, rehearsal facilities for live concerts, a night club and food court. It also offers skills development and training for musicians, sound engineers, etc.

It is in the process of instituting the Scratch Awards Scheme to honour outstanding creative artistes from around the globe.

The studio is not only the musician's dream, but is gradually establishing itself as the corporate world's most dependable partner in the creative sector.

The Mayor, Mr. Ronnie C. Lewis, who had earlier on called on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu the second, and other key dignitaries and government officials, has since left for the USA.
