Asuhyiae (Ash), June 22, GNA - Tuberculosis (TB) is on the increase in the Ahafo-Ano North District of Ashanti, Nana Adu Bobie, the District Disease Control Officer has said on Monday. He said about 12 new cases were recorded at the Tepa Government Hospital between January and May this year.
Nana Bobie, who was speaking at a day's TB awareness programme organised by the District Directorate of Health at Asuhyiae, asked the people infected with the disease to report to the nearest health institution for treatment. The programme was aimed at educating the people on the causes, dangers and prevention of TB.
Mr Emmanuel Yaw Asante, the Medical Assistant in-charge of the Manfo Health Centre, reminded the people that drugs for the treatment of the disease were available in government and mission hospitals, adding that, TB was curable and free. Miss Mary Ashagbley, a community health nurse, urged the people to eat balance diets to help make them healthy.
