Tougha essay competition winners named

Gwollu, September 29, GNA - Master Dominic Bayor of the Wa Saint Andrew Catholic Junior Secondary School won the first prize in an essay competition on the promotion of tourism in the Upper West organized by the Tour Operators Union of Ghana for junior secondary school in the Region.

This was announced by Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Minister of Tourism and Diasporan Relations, at the celebration of this year's World Tourism Day held at Gwollu, in the Sissala West District. Forty other students who wrote the essay are to be presented with their prizes in November in Accra.

The competition was organized as part of the activities marking this year's World Tourism Day, which the Upper West Region hosted. The minister named the second and third prize winners as Miss Juliana Mahamoud of the Wa Methodist School for the blind and Master Ahmed Abudu of the Lassia Tuolu Junior Secondary School. Tougha sources told the Ghana News agency that, as part of their package, an excursion would be organized for the forty students to tour the castles and some other towns in southern Ghana.
