Theatre Arts added value to my musical career – Yaa Yaa

Afro Pop Songstress, Yaa Yaa, has revealed how offering Theatre Arts as a discipline in the university has positively influenced her stage performance and style as a musician.

“I knew music is within and I don’t have to study it, I just hear the melody. But majoring theatre arts has added value to what I was doing. Now when I’m going on stage, I think lights, sound, costume, facial expression, body language, etc.” Yaa Yaa said on Viasat One’s Celebrity Fun Zone show.

To be a great performer, she said, one needs to learn everything that comes with performing arts, because movement on stage is very important. Aside a few stage acting roles, the Incredible singer is yet to star in a movie. Yaa Yaa yearns to feature in stories that speak to people, because she prefers to be a tool for change through her act.

“I wrote Kae when I hadn’t had any broken heart. Two (2) years later, everything I said in the song happened to me. So I was like, if what I sing about can come to pass, why don’t I write something positive and let it happen. I went on a 2-year musical break and I used that period to ponder on how I can change the world through my act,” the Dumb Drum singer added.

Yaa Yaa is currently working on her album titled Agoo.
