The streets is still talking 5Five

Rap group duo, 5five has been nominated for their work on their album, “Ur Luv” at the ninth MTN Ghana Music Awards.

5five’s smash album has debuted top music chart positions inland and outer national. The announcement marks 5five’s first Ghana Music Awards nomination in the five categories:

SONG OF THE YEAR (Afrikan Gurlz), DISCOVERY OF THE YEAR, POP OF THE YEAR (Afrikan Gurlz), HIPLIFE OF THE YEAR and HIPLIFE ALBUM OF THE YEAR (Afrikan Gurlz).

5five, contribution to the hip life culture is heard as far back as 2006 when they murdered a song titled “For Better For Worse” featuring Batman Samini on the Appietus Compilation. They have created a certain genre that Ghanaian musicians are following now which is visible in the game now. Readers will agree with me that after the release of “Afrikan Gurlz” and “No. 1 Fan’ more artistes are doing English laced with Reggeton or dancehall beats.

5Five’s “Afrikan Gurlz” was a hit on the streets and could be heard in local clubs, pubs, radio stations and any outdoor event, not forgetting how they were heavily rotating it on TV stations both in and out of Ghana.

Shortly thereafter, the A –Town peeps released a single, “No. 1 fan”, another hit for their fans which made the duo garner a loyal following worldwide.

Heard from the streets, “Afrikan Gurlz” was the defining moment of the 5Five career. And truly they made it by gunning down 5 ‘noms’ at the GMA which is pretty good for a new artiste.

5Five is made up of Papi (feed him beats and he will lay you a tight rap verse)and Killi who is now seen as Akon in Ghana.

5five fans can look forward to special surprises from them as will making platinum history on 25th April and they forget that they 5five is always for the ladies.
