Afropop singer-songwriter, Noella Wiyaala Nwadei, known professionally as Wiyaala has urged the younger generation to refrain from chasing quick wealth but rather to embrace patience and steady growth.

Speaking in an interview on TV3 on December 9, the award-winning artiste noted that many young people today want success to come quickly, but she has learned, through experience, that the best results come from taking one’s time.

“This new generation, they want everything quick. I think I was also once like that. But I learned the hard way not to be in a hurry. Take your time and learn,” she said.

According to Wiyaala, the challenges and lack of support many upcoming talents complain about are not setbacks but stepping stones.

“The so-called challenges and nobody supporting me are all little things to make your roots go deeper. Consider it as manure; water just goes through it, you’ll be fine,” she said.

She encouraged the public, especially aspiring creatives, to prioritise good health, happiness, and personal motivation.

“Be happy and learn to be happy, learn to enjoy the process and always smile… it will never remain like that forever, you will get there,” she added.

When asked to summarise her journey in one word, Wiyaala described it as “fantastically bombastic.”

The celebrated singer also recounted the moment she felt her dreams had come true.

“The day I won Vodafone Icons was the day I said to myself it was worth the so many years. That was when I said, now I am there,” she revealed.
