Ghanaian actor and political commentator Prince David Osei has taken a swipe at President John Dramani Mahama over what he described as a return of the country's persistent electricity crisis.

In a post on X on Monday, April 27, 2026, the outspoken actor argued that the Mahama name has become inseparable from the word “dumsor” in the minds of Ghanaians.

He noted that Mahama’s previous tenure as president was significantly defined by power outages, and the current administration appears to be continuing that trend.

"The name Mahama has become synonymous with DUMSOR. From the 2012–2016 power crisis, which crippled homes and businesses nationwide, to 2025–2027," he wrote.

Prince David Osei noted that what makes the situation even more difficult to accept is that, despite the long and well-documented history of power instability under Mahama-led administrations, electricity tariffs remain punishingly high for ordinary Ghanaians.

"Every tenure of President Mahama has been significantly marked and burdened by DUMSOR. But yet, despite this painful history and its well-documented economic and social impact, electricity tariffs are still through the roof," he said.

The actor closed his post with a direct appeal to the President. Stating, "Ghanaians deserve better than this. Please, Mr. President, we deserve better."

His comments come amid growing public frustration over the return of power outages in recent weeks.

The Electricity Company of Ghana pointed under the current administration, with many Ghanaians expressing anger over what they describe as a familiar and avoidable crisis.
