The evidence we presented in court was solid - Lawyer Benjamin Arthur

Counsel for Akosua Serwaa, Henry Benjamin Arthur Esq., has insisted that the legal team remains confident in the strength of the evidence they presented during the trial involving highlife legend Daddy Lumba and Odo Broni.

Speaking on United Showbiz on December 6, 2025, the lawyer revealed that his client has instructed them to file an appeal.

He stressed that the judgment delivered does not reflect the full weight of the evidence led in court.

According to him, court judgments often capture only a portion of what transpired during the trial, and a different judge could easily arrive at a different conclusion based on the same set of facts.

“We are going for an appeal at the court. Aside from authentication, the evidence we led at trial: if the same facts are presented before a different judge, a different judge might reach a different conclusion. When you read judgment, it’s just a portion of whatever happened,” he said.

He explained that their decision to appeal is grounded in their firm belief that the evidence they presented was solid and sufficiently established their client’s case.

“We had instructions from our client that we should appeal so we are appealing the judgment of the court. Our belief is, the evidence we led in court was solid. Evidence is about pieces of information you will get to build your case,” he shared.

‘Odo Broni once told Abusuapanyin that Daddy Lumba never married her’ – Jigga

Lawyer Arthur highlighted what he described as a key inconsistency in the testimony of a witness presented as credible by Odo Broni.

He stated that the witness admitted, both in his written statement and under cross‑examination that he was aware of Daddy Lumba’s marriage to Akosua Serwaa in Germany.

“This is a situation in which the person who claimed to be Odo Broni’s credible witness admitted that they knew of the marriage of Daddy Lumba in Germany. He wrote it in the witness statement,” he noted.

However, the witness claimed that when Daddy Lumba sought to marry Odo Broni, he told them his marriage to Akosua Serwaa was over.

“Under cross-examination, he admitted that they knew of the marriage but the clause he added was, when Daddy Lumba wanted to marry Odo Broni, they asked him about his marriage with Akosua Serwaa and he said the marriage was over,” he said.

Lawyer Arthur further noted that when the witness was asked whether Daddy Lumba provided any divorce certificate or documentation to prove he had legally dissolved his marriage, the witness admitted that no such evidence was presented.

“The Lawyer who was cross-examining the witness asked whether Daddy Lumba presented their divorce certificate or anything that showed he had divorced Akosua Serwaa, the witness said Daddy Lumba didn’t provide anything. He proceeded to accept him to marry Odo Broni based on what he said about him divorcing his wife,” he added.
