Tenant Beats Landlord After Sleeping With His Girlfriend

Sheriff Mensah, a resident of blacksmith, near Lartehbiokoshie, a suburb of Accra has appeared before the Adjabeng Community Tribunal charged with assault.

The facts of the case are that Mensa was caught red-handed making love to Amina Sadiq, his landlord’s girlfriend. After his landlord, Mr. Akwetey had caught them; he tried to confront Mensah, but was beaten up mercilessly by Mensah.

Mr. Akwetey who sustained injuries fro m Mensah’s beatings reported the case to the Mamprobi Police Station and Mensah was arrested and charged with assault.

Mr. Akwetey told the court that Amina has been his girlfriend for 3 years. He said sometime ago, he was informed by a tenant that Amina was flirting with Mensah.

“A week later, I saw Amina and Mensah chatting very late in the night, but when I confronted them, they both denied having an affair,” he said.

“On the day of the incident, I went out to see my friend and on my return home, one of the tenants told me he saw Amina entering Mensah’s room. I quickly went to Mensah’s door and forced the door open. To my surprise, both Mensah and Amina were stark naked on the bed and doing their own thing. When I tried to question Mensah, he rather got offended and attacked me with punches and threw me on the ground”, he said.

Mensah giving his side of the story said, Amina is his girlfriend but he was having difficulties finding accommodation when Mr. Akwetey offered her a room and proposed to her.

“ Amina never accepted his proposal, but Mr. Akwetey goes about telling people that Amina is his girlfriend”, he added.

Mensah was granted a 2million cedis bail to appear later.
