Ten persons have qualified to the final stage of the Vodafone ICONS Street edition.

The finalists will compete in the live episodes and justify why they deserve to win the ultimate prize package valued at GH¢ 250,000.

Carmen Bruce-Annan, Head of Brands and Corporate Communications of Vodafone in a statement said: “We are offering the biggest prize package ever in the history of reality and talent shows in Ghana.

“Our ICON will have the opportunity to work with a global brand like Universal Records,” she said.

The ultimate prize include a brand new Kia Sportage, Samsung products and a recording contract with one of the world’s biggest record label, Universal Records, who have the likes of Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, Ashanti on their label.

She added: “This year we have some very talented aspiring individuals this year so it will be highly competitive.”

Unlike previous editions, where contestants performed in groups, this year’s event would be mainly solo performances.

More than 1000 persons showed up for the auditions in Koforidua, Kumasi, Swedru, Cape Coast, Takoradi and Tamale.

The numbers were cut down to 150 and further reduced to 40 and then 16 who made it to the Boot Camp.

Ten eventually made it to the last stop and will be performing every week.

The public can either vote to keep their favourites in the competition or vote out contestants who are not pulling their weight.

Vodafone Icons airs on the following networks: Metro TV at 1800 hours on Sundays, Viasat One at 2000 hours on Wednesdays and GTV at 2000 hours on Saturday.

The maiden live perform will be telecast on Metro TV on Sunday, July 7 at 1800 hours.
