Tema holds 4th edition of Black Art Street Festival

Located 25 kilometers east of the capital, Accra is the engine of Ghana’s industry and biggest seaport, the city of Tema, home of Black Art Street Festival, an annual street festival that provides a converging station for thousands of free-minds, artists, potential and active entrepreneurs, tech-lovers, bloggers, musicians, environmental conservationists, fashion lovers, lifestyle and cultural enthusiasts and other talented creative minds to generate series of contagious energy to promote businesses, art, tourism, entrepreneurship and the environment.

Initiated in 2014, the festival formerly known as Tema Art and Fashion Festival has grown steadily to become the biggest street event in Tema attracting people from diverse cultures across the country and beyond.

This year’s edition is premised on the theme Black Creativity: The Relevance of Art to National Development-The Concept of Recycling, a theme that seeks to project the relevance of art to national development whiles focusing on recycling as a way of conserving the environment.

Speaking to Ghanaweb, Festival Director and Team Lead at Initials & Signatures Ltd expresses optimism about this year’s edition and called on creative minds across Ghana and beyond to participate in the festival.

“BASFEST apart from celebrating art, fashion and other creative enterprises, also offers opportunity to emerging and already established businesses to have direct interaction with the consuming public thereby helping them to expand their market reach. This is huge market opportunity entrepreneurs can ride on. We are also much opened to volunteers and sponsors who want to support the festival”.

BASFEST 2017 promises to thrill patrons to three days of entertaining and educative activities ranging from fashion runway shows, film screening, live art contests, art processions, musical jams, open-studio convos, sales, live band and special meals among other engaging activities.

The festival will take place from December 1 through to December 3 on the well-secured Street between the Tema Community 4 Basketball Court and the General Hospital Road.
