[TIME ON THE COUCH] Stop!, B'REAL

Its official, there’s no stopping the Barca colours, at least for now. After one of the best teams (I hate to admit) in world football became just one of the errand boys in European football, I said to myself, it won’t get any worse or better (depending on where your money is) than this. But then, what do I know?

Following their exit at the hands of “china barcelona”, United were hoping the colour white was the antidote to all their nightmares. Well we were all hoping it would be, but no. For a club this size, they are better off playing in the Glo Ghana Premier League than in the Europa league. They may have won their league game this weekend but that may be due in part to the fact that Wolves were not wearing a Barca-like strip. But United won’t be that lucky next season as word has it that, the other big 4 teams have already set about designing their away strips for next season. Your guess is as good as mine what colour it would be. Meeehn, some of us still got tears in our eyes, for different I tell you.

But certainly the attention of the world this weekend was in Spain. Barcelona-Madrid is always a tasty affair. Take away the two magnificent stadiums, the fantastic support and traditions, the rivalry and the analogous media hype. Take it like this, if you put 22 world class internationals in a small tight space and you make them chase after one small ball, the sum of its parts is PURE MAGIC. Not to mention the little fact that in all of this, we had 3 of the world’s best players, and two of the finest brains in the game. But come to think of it, is it not a little disturbing that there was only one African on display when the big boys came out to play?

Well there were 3 world best players on the field alright but for me, they were all in Barca colours. Messi did not have to do much in this game but again Cristiano Ronaldo was simply second-rate. Most United fans were using him as an excuse for supporting Madrid. Although we all know they were hoping somebody would shut up the only group of people in the world other than them who make the most noise. Plus it would be nice to see Barca in some sort of pain, after all the hurt they’ve caused them. But it was not to be. Largely due to the Drogba-like tendencies Ronaldo is adopting, and alarmingly so. It’s like corruption and the Republic of Nigeria with him and the el clasico.

In the end, it was the merciless and ruthless finishing of Barcelona that was the difference. Thankfully, we were spared the Theatre Arts Major performances that have characterised recent meetings. To say that it was an amazing game is an understatement. Honestly, I really thought there wasnt much between the two giants. Obviously,I have been asked to stop, and think again.

The first 15-25 minutes at the Bridge was strikingly similar to what happened at the Bernabeu. Be realistic Chelsea fans, you may have won this one, but City are miles ahead in terms of efficiency and ability. They are a quality quality side. It was quite disheartening looking at how the old men were made to chase their own shadows all over the place. But hey, I really don’t care right now, and I bet most United fans will agree with me on this one. Finally they had something to smile about and the title race has just had itself blown wide open. Forget about Chelsea, I am really happy for you lot, United fans. Hehehehehehehe.
