TGMA 2026 nominations: Artistes who have expressed dissatisfaction so far

Following the unveiling of nominees for the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), a number of Ghanaian artistes have publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the process, citing issues ranging from snubs to lack of transparency.

Here’s a breakdown of some of the key voices and their concerns:

Keche

The duo was quick to register their disappointment after missing out on nominations despite their visibility during the year under review.

In a post made on X, Joshua and Andrew, who make up the Keche group, questioned why they were invited to the unveiling ceremony but received no nominations. According to them, the situation raises concerns about fairness in the selection process.

"They invited us but zero nomination, herrr mafia Paa this, but still we kno bore, TGMA Nominees announcements, our new song Selina will grab some next year," they wrote.

Kwaw Kese

The veteran rapper did not hold back in his criticism towards the organisers; he described the nomination process as confusing and unclear.

In an X post, the rapper wrote: "Ghana Music Awards turn gob3. You just wake up one day and there's nominee party and you ask yourself how and when did people get nominated. Call it Beans Music Awards."

His remarks add to the long-standing debate about transparency in the scheme.

Medikal

Despite earning nominations, Medikal also expressed reservations, insisting that he outperformed his peers within the year under review.

He has warned the TGMA board to base their decision solely on merit without favoritism.

"You know they have nominated me for TGMA awards including the artiste of the year. And we all know last year I worked more than every artiste in that category. So tell them that 'no libilibi no labalaba' for the artiste of the year award," he told the cheering crowd while performing at the Kumawu Papa Nantwei Festival concert in the Ashanti Region.

His comments suggest dissatisfaction with how top categories are evaluated.

AratheJay

Fast-rising artiste AratheJay has also joined the conversation, raising concerns about recognition. His team formally extended a petition to the TGMA board seeking clarification over exclusion in major nominations.

According to the team, AratheJay's album The Odyssey was excluded from the "Album/EP of the Year" category, his song "Put Am on God" did not make it to the "Best Rap Performance" category, and his "Cover Me" did not make it to the "Best Male Vocal Performance" category.
