Vlisco Fashion show (Ghana)

Textile designer, Vlisco, best known for iconic waxed prints in colorful designs and patterns continues to produce authentic and luxurious fabrics. Anita attended the Vlisco Fashion show held in Accra, where she interviewed Patrick form House of Eccentric, Aisha from Christie Brown and Cisse representing Frozen Dreams. The fashion was amazing and so were the people Anita spoke to.

Interior Design (Ghana)

Anita went to ‘learn’ about architecture and interior design. She spent some time with home owners Jacqueline Akuffo and Pajohn Bentsifi Dadson, whose interior design is all about style and balance. Over the last five years, architecture and design in Accra has become an important element, especially for home owners. The popular design trends include selections of antiques, bespoke pieces and cultural artifacts and creations.

Bow Wow

Rapper and actor Bow Wow, born on 9 March 1987, released his debut album ‘Beware of Dog’ at age 13. He went on to release other successful albums including ‘Unleashed, Wanted and the Price of Fame’. This talented 22 year old artist visited South Africa recently. Lebo caught up with him at the Lion Park in Johannesburg and got to find out more about his music and future plans. Bow Wow performed at the Big Brother Revolution finale, went on a tour around Johannesburg as part of his tour.

Port Harcourt film Festival (Nigeria)

The ION International Film Festival invited industry professionals, film critics, enthusiasts and audiences to experience the art and passion of some of the world's most talented filmmakers at ‘The Garden City’ of Port Harcourt. Film makers, actors and local celebrities attended this function. Celebrities at the event included Grammy Award-winning rapper, actor and film producer, PRAS and actress Daryl Hannah. The event also allowed established practitioners in the film industry the opportunity to discover new and fresh talent, while celebrating the work of those that are experienced. IK was also there to celebrate the Nigerian film industry.

Born and Bred Music Video Awards (Zambia)

This star-studded event took over the entire city and had everyone celebrating the year’s best in music video awards. The Born & Bred Music Video Awards attracted the biggest names in Zambia’s recently revived music industry. Lebo was there to celebrate with the stars. The music video categories ranged from best male & female videos and video of the year, to the most controversial as well as the worst video of the year.

Local celebrities, fashionistas and music fanatics were in attendance and the fashion was absolutely amazing! Angela Nyirenda was one of the award winners.

Miss East Africa (TZN)

The Miss East Africa 2009 pageant was held at Milimani conference centre. Fareed mingled with the beauties and had a great time. Congolese musician Ferre Batangire Gola, Kidumu Kinene from Kenya and Vumilia Mwaipopo with her K-Mondo Sound band performed at the event and had the audience moving to their sounds.

Tango the Painter (Cameroon)

Grace caught up with Tango, a prominent artist Cameroon, a gallery owner with a B.Sc. Honours in Politics and Public Administration from the University of Buea. This talented artist paints mainly landscapes or abstract and figurative paintings and is considered a new painting revelation to Africa, by most art critics. He has exhibited in almost all prominent galleries in Cameroon, and his work can be seen at the National Museum and top hotels. He painted 'The way of the Cross' paintings for his university chapel and decorated the cultural village of the university with his abstracts. Tango’s work is authentic and he is one artist making headlines!
