Structures in our music industry do not work - Article Wan

Ghanaian afrobeat/dance-hall artiste, Article Wan, has asserted that structures in the Ghanaian music industry do not really work.

He mentioned to Foster Romanus on the Late Nite Celebrity Show that structures in Ghana like the MUSICA and others that are supposed to help people in the music industry are not very effective. He said, ‘’I was in UK for just two weeks and the structures there are different from our industry here. In this country, I feel you have to fight for yourself’’.

Explaining how structures in the United Kingdom are different from those in Ghana, the singer mentioned that upon his stay in the UK, he realized that artistes are paid when they go for interviews on radio stations but that is not so in Ghana.

‘’I am not saying that we should start doing that by force but I think we should re-strategize our system because in Ghana, you can see artistes who are on top of their game but they are broke. In the UK, even upcoming artistes are rich’’, he revealed.

The ’that thing’ hit-maker added that things are upside down in the Ghanaian music industry and it will take everyone in the industry to change it but since they are not united in doing that, it will be the same way for sometime and everyone will have to find their own way out.
