Stop using my name to dupe people – Gifty Osei warns

Gifty Osei Gifty Osei

Gospel artiste Gifty Osei has cautioned persons duping innocent people by using her name to bring their activities to a halt.

In an interview with livefmghana.com, the "Jesus Be Too Much" singer said that there are people who have impersonated her and are asking for financial assistance.

“There are people who are calling innocent people on the phone claiming to be me. When they call, what they say is that I have some goods locked at the airport because I’m financially down and so I need their help.

“The painful part is that, some have already fallen victims to such demands, they have paid and truth be told, I’m not into any kind of business,” she said.

According to her, this came to her notice after a fan of hers whose mother had fallen victim to such plot narrated her story.

Í had a message from someone in my inbox on facebook that her mother had a call from a lady claiming to be Gifty Osei. The lady said her goods had arrived but needed money to clear them. She pleaded with the woman to come to her aid. After sometime, some men also called to testify to the said Gifty Osei’s story.

“Subsequently, the woman sent 480 Ghana cedis to a certain number. After a while, they called back demanding for more and that as when it dawned on the woman that something was wrong somewhere.

“The person then asked me to come out and clear my name,” she said.

Gifty Osei used the opportunity to ask anybody who had fallen victim to such scam to come out or report to the police and talk and she also asked the perpetrators to return monies or items they have taken from these innocent people.

Gifty is set to organise a gospel show on her birthday, 25 October dubbed Ubufakazi Bami.
