Stop the frequent release of songs if it is not helping

Samini Samini

In the history of Ghanaian music, musicians have a span in which they release their songs until rapper Sarkodie born Michael Kwesi Owusu Addo appeared in the scene and started an agenda which has been accepted by all and sundry.

Years back, Castro, 4×4, Buk Bak, K K Fosu, VIP, Samini and many others had periods of releasing their songs but these days, there is no proper way of releasing songs in our music industry.

Although Sarkodie started this trend of releasing songs anytime he feels to entertain his fans close to a decade now, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Junior popularly known as Shatta Wale also joined and has made it appealing to other musicians.

The trend since its inception has been working for Sarkodie till Shatta Wale, Guru, Stonebwoy joined and apart from these artistes, few others like: Edem, EL, VVIP, FlowKing Stone, Mz Vee, Kaakie, Kofi Kinaata and others also get the attention from their fans anytime they release a song whiles the rest suffer.

Samini we all know is not the artiste who releases songs anytime he feels like from the days of Linda till he released Iskoki. He has a proper timing to his releases.

Now, Samini has also adopted the strategy but it is not helping his brand like we know him during the days he was in his peak. Before and after the launch of his breaking news album, he released more than ten singles which includes: Say No more, New Style, Drop the Guns featuring Busy Signal, Zingolo feat. Joey B and Pappy Kojo, Brazzier, Salute, New Year, Hotta Faya, Higher, Wedding Day, Nighty and many more but till now none is a hit and didn’t even get VGMA nomination this year.

Aside Samini, there are some artistes like: Trigmatic, Dada Hafco, Quarme Zaggy, Shatta Rako, Vybrant Faya, AK Songstress, Episode, Rudebwoy Ranking, Kameleon, Shegee Styla, De voice, Choirmaster and many others who have also taken the same trend but it is not working for them.

Since the constant releases is not helping them, it will be better if they bring one or two tracks and promote them well for months before bringing new ones.

By so doing, they may end up getting a hit song out of the few they release than bringing more and not making any impact. Releasing one hit song is better than churning more without getting a hit out of the many.

Management of these artistes should study the system and know what to do than following others because they cannot use the same approach since they have different genres of music.
