2017 BET award nominee Livingstone Etse Satekla known in the showbiz industry as Stonebwoy has advised events and show organizers in Ghana to learn from the organizers of the Black Entertainment Television (BET) award organizers.
Speaking in an interview with Benedict Owusu of Accra-based Joy News in Texas, the 2015 BET award winner said that the international awards was organized with precision and there was no margin of error whatsoever.
He added that he had been at the awards ceremony at least twice and on all occasions, the ceremony turns out to be a masterpiece. He advised event organizers in Ghana to look up to the BET organization and work hard to create a replica of the show during some events in the country.
He credited the BET awards for being well planned and executed to perfection; something he yearns Ghanaians who are noted for organizing events in the showbiz industry would emulate. He admonished event organizers to be up and doing and carefully plan events in Ghana using the BET awards as a benchmark.
He said all the glamour and pageantry we witness on TV during the awards from start to finish were achieved by constant planning and dedication by the organizers. He added that attention should be given to the “behind the scenes” team to ensure that everything comes together as planned on the day of the event.
He added that we could organize a beautiful event like that which is staged abroad only if we work hard and change our attitude towards event organizing in Ghana.
The “People dey” song maker has been nominated twice for the international awards ceremony in the category of Best International Act from Africa. The first nomination was in 2015 which he won and the second nomination was for this year which he lost to Nigeria’s Wizkid. He was the only Ghanaian to be nominated in the category this year.
