“He is telling lies,” were the words of Papi, of 5Five fame, as he reacted to Stonebwoy’s claim that his 2024 hit record ‘Jejereje’ contributed to the National Democratic Congress (NDC's) victory in the general elections.
In an interview on Okay FM on March 26, 2026, Papi questioned why Stonebwoy would mount a platform to make such a claim, insisting the song had no impact on the NDC’s win.
Papi further stated that the Jejereje hitmaker had initially maintained that his work should not be associated with politics, and questioned why he now appears to be linking it to a political outcome.
He urged Stonebwoy to take a clear stance instead of trying to play both sides.
“Stonebwoy is telling lies. His song didn’t contribute to the NDC’s victory. He said we shouldn’t associate politics with his work, and now all of a sudden he is doing exactly that. What are we even doing? He should take a clear side instead of trying to play smart. When the song was first released, he made it clear it wasn’t political, so why the sudden change now?” he said.
'Jejereje' helped the NDC win power in 2024 - Stonebwoy claims
Recently, at the Black Stars World Cup Fundraiser held at the Kempinski Hotel on March 21, 2026, Stonebwoy stated that his song, 'Jejereje', contributed to the NDC’s victory in the 2024 elections.
“When we talk about contributions, I believe that my contribution has been very significant in actually winning power for the NDC because everybody has heard ‘naano ee nakofa baaye o’.
"Mainly because I am somebody who believes in reset, so per my own judgement, I made sure that that music was dropped within a moment when there was some ease in the system. Because it was so tensed and I dropped it in terms of contributions,” he said.
