Ghanaian international soul, pop and jazz artiste, Stephanie Benson, turns 50 today Wednesday, 16 August 2017.

Born in Ghana, Stephanie Benson started her music career at the very tender age of three when she started learning how to play the piano and later added the violin and cello when she was enrolled at the National Academy of Music at the age of eight.

The award-winning musician moved to London, United Kingdom, at the age of 14 after her father’s death. It was in London that she mastered playing the piano and ventured into performing at famous nightclubs.

Stephanie Benson transitioned onto the commercial stage by working as a vocalist for some international acts such as: Andy Hill (Bucks Fizz), Terry Britton (Tina Turner) Danny Schogger (Celine Dion), Wayne Vaughn (Earth Wind and Fire), Rob Davis (Kylie Minogue) and (Stevie Wonder) among others.

In September 1 2016, she climbed the 1,912m high Mont Ventoux in France to raise funds for cancer treatment. The £50,000 was targeted at more research and better treatment for cancer patients and also to improve ways to live with the disease.

Stephanie Benson has performed at events hosted by the British royals including Princess Anne and reportedly exceeded her 15-minute allotted performance time for Prince Charles to approximately an hour because he enjoyed her act.

She received another invitation to sing for Prince William before his wedding to Kate Middleton on April 29, 2011.

The “Good Feeling” hit maker has released a single titled “Barima No” featuring Okyeame Kwame.
