St Monica's win choral competition

Kumasi, March 9, GNA - Saint Monica's Senior High School (SHS) in Asante-Mampong emerged champions in the girl's school category of this year's inter schools and colleges choral competition organized by the Centre for National Culture to mark the independence anniversary in Kumasi. They scored 70.6 points to beat Afua Kobi, which placed second with 61 points.

Armed Forces SHS won the mixed school's category with 71.6 points and Konongo-Odumase coming second, securing 70 points. They received books and trophies as their prizes. In all, 19 schools participated in the competition that was collaboration between the CNC and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to test the abilities of students to compose and sing patriotic songs in praise of the country's forefathers.

Mr Samuel Adjei, Director of CNC, chaired the closing ceremony and commended the students and their teachers for embracing the programme. He appealed to students to develop interest in extra curricular activities in order to build confidence and good morals to face future challenges. 09 March 10
