This year’s Ghana-Japan Yosakoi Festival ended at the Ghana Police Headquarters Fitness and Social Center over the weekend with debutants St. Dominic’s Senior High School emerging winners.

They were presented with two big boxes of geishas provided by Kawasho & ito-ya together with a beautiful calendar for the school.

The event was represented by over 11 schools across the regions which included St Paul’s Technical school, St Peters Senior High School, Kibi Senior School, St. Martins Senior High School and the Center for Asian studies.

The rest are St. Roses Senior High School, St Karol School of Nursing, Good Shepherd Academy, Accra Japanese School, Legon Center for International Development-LECIAD, and Mary Star of the Sea international school.

There were great dance performances from Japanese renowned break hip hop dancer Gome and caffeine who thrilled the entire crowd with some blended local and hip hop dance moves.

The event showcased the beauty of Japanese culture in relation to food, clothing, and dance. The bon Odori dance was the most fascinating as it drew all present to join in the dance. The Ghabuiki Dance by Daniel and his team was spectacular as it portrayed pure Japanese Samural situation.

The Hiroya foundation also performed the AED demonstration which has become a significant schedule of the programme over the years.

Present at the event was the Ambassador of Japan to Ghana his Excellency Ambassador Himeno who delivered the opening and closing remarks. He expressed his elation at the event and craved for a more beautiful programme next year.
