Spanish Piano sensation shakes British Council

Pedro Casals, a 21-year old Spanish piano sensation on Thursday thrilled audience at a live piano concert at the British Council auditorium to the best classical music of the times.

The concert, which was organized by the Spanish Embassy in collaboration with the British Council (BC), formed part of activities marking the Diamond Jubilee celebrations BC in Ghana.

Pedro Casals treated the audience, who were mainly from the diplomatic community in Ghana to some of the world renown classical tunes like Sonata Op "la Tempestad" by L.V. Beethoven and Triana by Albeniz.

The rest of the tunes were Fantasia Betica by M. de Falla and Sonata en si menor by F. Liszt.

Casals started his piano education when he was five years old and studied with the Madrilenian pianist, Carmen Deleito until 1998.

Casals, who is a member of the Young Musicians Association of Spain, has performed in various national and international concerts halls especially across Europe.

The Young sensation represented Spain in the "Young Pianist in Concert" festival sponsored by the Steinway and Sons in the German city of Hamburg. He was also selected as a soloist for the Orchestra of the "Real Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Madrid".

Casals apart from winning a scholarship at "Juventudes Musicales" has won several prizes during his carrier spanning 1994 to date.
