Gifted gospel songstress, Veronica Asomaniwaa, popularly known in showbiz arena as Nana Amma Aseda has debunked the claim that without the payment of payola, Ghanaian musicians can’t make a successful hit.

Speaking in an interview with Flex newspaper, Nana Amma Aseda noted that payola or no payola, it`s God who gave her the talent and that God will never forsake her to struggle in vain. Nana Amma who started her music journey since 1992, stated that this is Gods time for her to also make herself known in the music business.

“People I look up to are Mama Esther, Hannah Marfo, Cecilia Marfo, Tiwaa member of the Yaw Sarpong band. The journey of my music was not on a silver platter. I had challenges such as financial issues but most of the challenges also come from friends and music colleague who used their influence to discourage me,” she noted.

“Formally Gospel music was very real based on the content but now what do we hear, Gospel music contents are not even clearly pronounced for fans and music followers, that makes it very difficult to learn and sing along. Secular folks will not respect us if we as gospel musicians can’t comport ourselves in public. My advice to new acts like myself is, we should keep on working hard and in God`s best of time he will lift us high like he is doing for me now,” she added.

Currently Nana Amma Aseda is out with a single dubbed Wobeye Kesie. She was inspired to write this particular song based on the fact that God is the greatest and none can be compared to him. The song was released some few weeks ago and it is already receiving massive air play on Kasapa FM, Peace FM, Rainbow Radio, among others.

The song was recorded by Bisaab Records. Follow her on facebook via Nana Amma Aseda and for more details contact management on 020-0763679.
