Son threatens to kill mum

Accra, Feb 25, GNA - An Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday remanded in prison custody Sammy Listowel for threatening to kill his mother Edith Abbey for advising him to refrain from stealing. Listowel, who was also charged with theft pleaded not guilty to the charges.

He is to reappear before the court, presided over by Mrs Jernifer Tagoe.

Prosecuting Police Inspector Magaret Awuni told the court that, the complainant in an attempt to prevent his son from selling a second hand fridge belonging to a late tenant in their house was threatened by Listowel to stay away or she will be killed.

Inspector Awuni said the accused also threatened to steal and sell her mothers property if she stops him from selling the second hand fridge.

She said the accused attacked her mother with a broken bottle with the intent of stabbing her but was over powered by co-tenants. Inspector Awuni said the accused, not satisfied, entered his mother's room and took away a wallet and second hand woollen carpet and sold it, but the police managed to retrieve the stolen carpet.
