Former High Grade Family artiste, Kofi Kinaata says some Ghanaian artistes are above nominations in Regional Award schemes.

The “Play” Hitmaker, who won the artiste of the year award at the just ended Western Regional Awards, called on organizers of such award scheme to focus their nominations on upcoming musicians within the jurisdiction of the scheme.

“Some of us have already made it and hence, we do not need to be nominated for such schemes. Established artistes should be honoured and not awarded alongside upcoming artistes”, he said.

The acclaimed Fante rap king, says it is unfair for up and coming artistes to be nominated in the same category with renowned artistes, since they stand little or no chance of winning against such doyens.

According to Kofi, he will definitely win all awards for which he is nominated in the Western Region Awards.

He added that though he appreciates the nomination as well as the award, he is encouraging organizers to exclude him, in order to pave way for underground artistes.
