Soja Bar Now Operates 24 Hours

…Ahead Of The Approaching Christmas

The infamous SOLDIER BAR facility, a haven for prostitutes and pimps has brushed aside all pressure concerns from the bothered community and is instead, operating in broad daylight especially at the weekends when the cream of society are busy sweating it out with work under back-breaking conditions, right under the scorching sun.

This means with Christmas approaching and economic activity soaring to the nostrils of the clouds, there is now a 24-hour-round-the-clock service for the morally-debased who claim that prostitutes and their services is an opportune avenue, for them to let loose some of the social and economic pressures society has brought on them, just so they keep their mental balance.

Last week, acting on SOS calls from concerned people who use an outlet on the side of the bar as a passage-way, THE SUN rose with its array of lenses to land at the area and met an army of young prostitutes lined up in the alley, prompting would-be customers to come biting the pudding. When the paper did, it discovered that earlier calls by the concerned were only a play-down of the exact hell that goes on there these days, even in the mornings.

THE SUN lost no time in feigning interest and mingled with the ladies and found out that, there appears to be a vast difference between night-life and that of broad daylight. Undercover work on the part of the paper proved difficult with the pimps in sight for they acted as guards standing some meters away, while keeping an eye on their prostituting madams. These brazen-muscled and beefy men with finely-chiseled muscle blades were obviously there as protective cover. The innovation to operate a 24-hour service, however bad it is, comes on the heels of a visit by a Parliamentary Committee months ago which recommended the facility for destruction. Over there, thieves were also operating on unsuspecting passer-bys who used the nauseating alley, while feasting their eyes on the provocative dressing of the semi-nude girls.

THE SUN discovered that the unsuspecting male adult whose inquisitive appetite drove him to look in the direction of a prostitute was immediately drawn into the trickery, as the male guards rose quickly to the scene even before she shouted that she had not been paid for services supposed to have been rendered, even though no contact whatsoever had been made between him and the harlot. An utterly-shocked Kwasi Ankomah a driver’s mate who plies the Kotobaabi Down Nkrumah Circle route revealed a harrowing experience he suffered just about a week ago from the pimps.

“My master said he was going to have supper so after washing the Urvan bus I should bring over the day’s sales. That was the miscreants took away everything that I had, after one lousy prostitute shouted that I had not paid her for so-called sexual services rendered”, Ankomah told THE SUN.

He revealed that even though they shared virtually the same compound with SOLDIER BAR and the prostitutes, they never spared him and rather chose to visit the calamity on him.

But THE SUN also heard frightening stores of how the cell phones of passers-by and the unsuspecting public are seized from them at will just because they happened to have used there as a route.

Strangely too, the Police patrol all those areas at night, midnight and at dawn yet they have failed to see SOLDIER BAR and its surroundings as one of the major NO-GO vicinities in Accra.

This time however, the prostitutes and their guards have dared to begin operation in broad daylight, and it remains to be seen what steps the Police which appears not to see in darkness, would do in the day time when the sun’s rays are so bright they make the blind see.
