Social Robbery Traders

Aflao, July 20, GNA - Five armed robbers early on Saturday morning (0630hrs) attacked a group of traders on a Benz bus at Fiokope near Aflao, bolting with about 50 million cedis, other valuables and the bus which they later abandoned at Torkukope, a suburb of Aflao. Mr Samuel Baidoo, who is the owner and driver of the bus and his spare driver John Eshun are in police custody and assisting in investigations. The Police are looking for Dotse Tamakloe, a station assistant at the Aflao lorry park, who was also on the vehicle but managed to flee for his suspicious role in the robbery. Mr. Baidoo told the police that the traders, majority of whom are Ivorians were from Takoradi en route to Togo and arrived at Aflao at about 3am when the Togo side of the border had not been opened. Mr Baidoo said Tamakloe persuaded the passengers to use an unapproved route into Togo through Akpokploe village during which the robbery occurred.
