Soccer Star, Gerald Asamoah Unveils Plush Hotel In Accra

Ghanaian-born German soccer star, Gerald Asamoah has joined the league of soccer stars who don’t just squander the gains from their sweats on unnecessary things but rather invest in important ventures that will secure their future and help Ghana’s ailing job industry.

The footballer has given Ghana’s hospitality industry a boost with the establishment of what looks like a 5-star hotel. The plush hotel is called Asa Royal Hotel and is located opposite the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre at La. It is currently the latest edifice in the area.

It is shoulders above others in the area in terms of attraction. Seeing the front view of the hotel, one could easily tell what is in store in the interior. And indeed entering its forecourt proves it evokes a great deal of modernity.

Its rooms and other facilities are all ultra-modern. They are all meant to treat clientele with grandeur, and modern comfort as part of the hotel’s primary mission to provide the best of hospitality at moderate and affordable rates. It has well-furnished and spacious air-conditioned executive, super executive rooms and suites with plasma TV, direct dial phone system with IDD.

The rest are single rooms, single standard, twin-bed single deluxe, suites with balcony, and executive rooms with a huge balcony which provides a look over the ocean. The rooms have security door systems and wireless internet connections. The bathrooms are beautifully designed. The hotel has a splendid design with a sizable parking lot and space for events.

Last week Gerald was in town to formerly launch the hotel. This was at a short ceremony which attracted a number of his colleague footballers who came to pat him on the back for coming home to establish a good business venture in the hospitality industry.

At the ceremony were Samuel Osei Kuffour, Awudu Issaka, Yaw Preko, Augustine Ahinful, Derrick Boateng, Anthony Baffoe and a number of veteran soccer stars. They each endorsed the hotel with their signatures on the back of Gerald’s number 14 Schalke jersey.

Also present was La Mantse Nii Tetteh Kpobi Tsuru who cut the sod to open the hotel. Dr. Agyemang Badu Akosa, former Director General of the Ghana Health Service, in a speech congratulated Gerald Asamoah and advised other individuals to emulate him. Song stars Great Ampong, Isaac and Cee of Mentor fame entertained guests with some exciting performances at the ceremony.

Gerald Asamoah, born on October 3, 1978 in Mampong, Ghana, last played as a forward for FC St. Pauli, following an 11-year stay at Schalke. Asamoah and his family moved to Germany in 1990. He first played for Hannover 96 before moving to Schalke in 1999.

He made his debut for Germany in 2001 against Slovakia, making him the first African-born black player to ever play for the side, as Erwin Kostedde and Jimmy Hartwig, two previous internationals, had one black and one white parent each. He scored on his debut, and went on to play in the 2002 and 2006 World Cups.

On June 1 2010, Asamoah signed a two-year contract with St. Pauli. In June 2011 he terminated the contract. Since 12th July 2011, Asamoah is at VfB Huls, keeping himself fit.
