Legendary Ghanaian Highlife musician, Jewel Ackah has revealed that he has learnt bitter lessons from his neglect by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) he sacrificed his musical career for.

According to him, if life provides him another opportunity in the future, he will opt to sign a contract with the party for his services bemoaning how he was abandoned at his point of need.

The musician, who is currently battling stroke and diabetes, revealed to TV3 that he tried to seek support several times from the party by visiting its National Secretariat but was each time turned away in a rather disgraceful manner.

“I tried to go to the party headquarters with my driver for support but each time I go there they neglect me. Why should they neglect me like that? So I stopped going there”, he revealed

On claims that he should not have gone public with his concerns, the NDC anthem composer said :“They say I have disgraced them….they thought I am stupid. They want me to die so that they will come and make a big show at my funeral”

Recounting how he got the opportunity to sing the NDC’s anthem in 1991, he said “I met Tobobi Kwakye who gave me a script to sing for the party but sound engineers were not willing to do it….but I jokingly told them I will go and tell the man you have refused to do it before they agreed to”
