Shikakope, Aputure lighting hold workshop at NAFTI

The Aputure lighting workshop took place at the National Film and Television Institute on the 17th of October 2018 as part of Shikakope’s commitment to give students the necessary practical skills they need to excel in the audiovisual industry and how to effectively use light to bring out the best in their work.

The workshop, which was hosted by NAFTI, was held in collaboration with Aputure and Shikakope.

Aputure is a manufacturer of motion picture film equipment, including lighting and cinema products. The company was founded in 2005 and has since then established itself as one of the best manufacturers of light for film.

Shikakope is a Ghanaian based online and physical storefront engaged in trading photography accessories with an agenda of bridging the gap between global manufacturers of audiovisual equipment and West African users of these products.

Together these two companies organized the event which saw many leading photographers and videographers coming together to share their knowledge.

The Head of Photo Unit at NAFTI, Mr. Yao Ladzekpo and Mr. Kwamena Aboagye, Head of Production and Business Development were also active patrons in the realization of this workshop. They expressed their appreciation to Shikakope for putting together the workshop and urged the business to do more of such events for students.

The Brand Ambassador for Aputure in Ghana, Yaw Skyface, a renowned film director in the music video circles was the lead moderator for the day, with Prince Dovlo, Kwaku Zee (ripple effect), Apag (apag studios) and Kemist Gold also serving as resource persons.

The morning session of the event was a theory and networking aspect, where students familiarized themselves with the resource persons and their work.

There were about seventy students spread across the level 300, 400 and diploma class who participated in the workshop.

Various products from Aputure including the Aputure led lights, light dome, light dome mini and the newly released APUTURE LS 120 D MARK II were also introduced to the students and shown how they work. This part of the workshop took place at the preview theatre studio 4 on the school premises.

The afternoon session also took place at the Nafti Studios 3, TV Studios. The resource persons took turns engaging the student practically on how to use some aputure to produce good lighting when taking videos.

Most students were very impressed about how effective, convenient and powerful the various Aputure products were and how student friendly it was in terms of price and knowledge on using it. This they indicated in their interaction with the media.
