Few weeks after it was reported that host of the ‘Tonight Show’ had parted ways with the satirical talk show, few names have popped up as potential candidates to fill one of the most coveted spots on late night TV.

Among the top likely replacements for Nii Kpakpo Thompson include Kwame Sefa Kayi, Derick Kobina Bonney (DKB) and Richard Dela Sky.

We take panoramic view of the potential candidates and how they may fare as hosts of the Tonight Show;

Kwami Sefa Kayi

Kwami Sefa Kayi popularly known as Chairman General has distinguished himself when it comes to broadcast journalism in Ghana.

Having won several awards in the past and currently the host of Peace FM's morning show, Sefa Kayi will bring to the Tonight Show his authoritative style of interviewing laced with his great sense of humor.

Kwame Sefa Kayi over the past decades has managed to build a very successful brand as one of the leading presenters in Ghana, and this will sure be a major boost for the Tonight franchise.

Derick Kobina Bonney (DKB)

DKB is a household name when it comes to comedy in Ghana. After graduating from University of Ghana in 2009, DKB pursued a career in media and broadcasting.

DKB as a young comedian has graced many platforms including ‘Night of 1011 laughs’, 'Citizen Comedy Show' and his own Comedy Show dubbed ‘Point of View’ which was a huge success.

DKB will seek to bring his on-stage comedy knack to bear on the Tonight Show. His hard-hitting comedy style is sometimes misinterpreted by some viewers as arrogance but DKB as a comedian in no doubt has many admirers than critics.

DKB as a host of the Tonight Show will definitely fit perfectly and will be expected to thrive in the role.

Richard Dela Sky

Richard Dela Sky, the host of Citi FM Eyewitness News, has over the years grown to be one of Ghana’s most revered news personalities.

His clarity of expression, insightful analysis and his extraordinary interviews set him apart from the competition. Sky’s energy, sense of humor and versatility is an asset and will sure make him a huge success as a host of the Tonight Show.

The producers of the Tonight Show are expected to unveil the new presenter in the coming days and it is likely that one of the above will just make the cut.
