Schools festival to be held at Bolgatanga

Accra, Sept. 6, GNA - The Fifth Second Cycle Institutions National Cultural Festival opens at Bolgatanga on September 12.

A statement issued by the Ghana Education Service in Accra on Monday said the four-day festival would be under the theme: "Culture, an Instrument for Peace and Unity." Some 1,500 students from all 10 regions would take part in the festival.

The statement said disciplines to be performed or competed for include vocational skills, poetry recitals, drum language, dance performance and choral music.

Volta Region would go into the festival as defending champions of the dance choreography as well as the overall champions. The statement said the main objectives of the festival included unearthing creative talents; to help the youth to acquire the necessary artistic skills and using the art as a tool to instil a sense of responsibility and strengthening national identity.
