Rusty old ceiling fan causes stir in court

Accra, Sept. 7, GNA - A rusty old ceiling fan installed in one of the Circuit Courts at the 28 February Road Courts on Thursday caused a stir when there was a loud sound from it during court proceedings. The blast occurred a few minutes after five suspected drug barons had been brought into the courtroom under heavy security. Lawyers and the packed court gazed at the fan whose blades swung for a few minutes and halted.

Some members of the audience, who were seated, bowed down as if to dodge while others asked: "What is the matter? Are we safe? A writing on the ceiling fan indicated that it was fixed in 1997.
