Rita Marley settles in Ghana

The widow of reggae legend Bob Marley, Rita, has settled in a village in Ghana and plans to help open a recording studio in Accra, the local press reported on Saturday.

Marley has bought a home at Konkonuru, some 50 kilometres (30 miles) northeast of the capital, the state-owned weekly The Mirror reported.

"It is quiet and serene. I love to work in the city but go back to the village and sleep," she told the newspaper.

Marley said she has opened a store in Accra selling her late husband's records and reggae memorabilia, and invested in a recording studio called "Tuff Gang".

It is due to open in June 2003 and will be the most modern music studio in west Africa, she said.

Marley hailed from Jamaica but adopted Africa as his spiritual home.
