Charterhouse Productions, creators of the Ghana Music Awards and organizers of Miss Malaika Ghana, last night unveiled yet another surprise, Reggie Rockstone, as its first Legend for Spacefon, at the Indigo Nite Club.
This is how he was introduced: "He is the biggest name in Hiplife music. Endearing himself to music lovers, he appeals equally to the masses as well as the elite. An ace rapper, credited as the originator of Hiplife music, he is also a great dancer and performer, and in spite of not having been seen on stage in the last 36 months, he raised the house down at the fourth annual Ghana Music Awards where he appeared on stage to give his signature phenomenal shows! He was last night announced as the first performer to feature in the Spacefon Legend Nite."
An annual event, which seeks to focus on, and promote an accomplished living Ghanaian musician, the Spacefon Legend Nite will comprise a documentary film profiling the life, times and music of the artiste, and a series of high profile concerts to celebrate the performer.
While Reggie, on whose soon-to-be-released album international rap artiste Snoop Dog features, has matured musically to hold a show on his own reckoning, it is his appeal as the biggest name in Hiplife that dictated his choice for this maiden edition of the Spacefon Legend Nite.
Two concerts will seal Rockstone's new 'official' status as a living Legend with the first show on Saturday, August 15, at the National Theatre in Accra, and the second on August 23 at the Kumasi Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Two international artistes, along with a number of his friends including his proteges and heavyweights in the Ghanaian hiplife industry will all be on hand to support their comrade during the show.
Produced for Spacefon as part of their effort to promote the Ghana music industry, the event is another creation from the stable of Charterhouse, whose footprints include such high profile events as the Ghana Music Awards.
