‘Reality Show is a business venture for the organizers’

Winner of Mentor 6, Yaw Stone, formerly known as Lee Stone has said that he does not regard musical reality show as a path to help emerging artistes but rather as a business endeavor for the organizers.

Speaking on Prime FM’s Entertainment Talk show, “Showbiz Prime”, the winner of Mentor 6 stated that he is yet to experience any progress after the competition.

Let’s take Mentor as an example; you would agree with me that none of the winners of Mentor has been able to become a stand-out artiste after the competition. When asked if Kesse was not big enough by the host, he quickly opined that Kesse is no longer a mentor brand but a project fame product hence the buzz he enjoyed at a point could be ascribed to the experience gained during his time at Project Fame West Africa, Yaw Stoned added.

He further stated that though a recording contract was part of his reward for winning the competition, he has still not received any recording deal since March 2012.

“I got the car and cash but I don’t know if the recording contract would come tomorrow and I am not ready to pursue the case since I don’t have the funds to go into legal battle with a media house like TV3.”, Yaw Stone stated. Adding to this Entertainment Critique Eugene Baah, however stressed that these are some of the issues the Musician Union Of Ghana (MUSIGHA) need to be addressing since this falls within their circles.
